The photo of one of the battalion’s new Pershing tanks, probably taken at Steinhausen, and the author got in it. Note the name painted on the panel of the tank. This was no doubt a way to poke fun at all rear-echelon folks. Story on page 176.

This is the only photo the author took of a dead soldier — see the upper edge of the photo. The photo was taken out of the back of the truck as it drove by. Undoubtedly he was a German soldier; the jack boots are a give-away. Page 180.
